The COMING OUT MONOLOGUES
Experience a vibrant celebration of storytelling, music, creativity, and community, hosted by Calgary Queer Arts and presented by RBC!
The Coming Out Monologues will showcase 18 storytellers and three musical guests over three performances. Each night audience members will be taken on a journey of discovery and revelation shared by seven storytellers, followed by one musical headliner who will close out our evening.
Arrive early to experience the return of Calgary Queer Arts Exhibition & Makers Market, spotlighting over twenty artists from in and around Mohkinstsis. Support local Queer creatives, discover handmade goods, stunning art, and more.
See you there!
Feature programming for each night is as follows:
October 25:
Emcee: Kylee Roman
Storytellers: Riley, Rufi, Alex, Ruby, Odeh, Avery
Musical Feature: Robert Adam
In handmade country couture, illuminated in rodeo crystal and sequin, Robert Adam crafts records with a reverent respect for traditional country music, while infusing an accessible, modern tone. Robert’s artistry was born of the country, a little west of Bonnyville, and that’s a truth no one can touch. Hailed for his angelic, inviting presence, Robert Adam is known for breaking barriers between generations.
October 26:
Emcee: Adora Nwofor
Storytellers: Kait, Dustin, Daphne, Jaime, Beck
Musical Feature: Zenon
ZENON is a bi-racial, non-binary singer who's sound is rooted in Soul; sometimes chill, sometimes sassy, always resonating with lovers of thought-provoking lyrics and soul filled grooves. Their music is a reflection of the spectrum of human experiences, including their own. Visit zenonepp.com for more info, streams and downloads.
October 27:
Emcee: Marshall Vielle
Storytellers: Ivan, Maggi, Andrea, Morgan, Charlotte, Nakota
Musical Feature: KP Smith
A take on 90's indie rock mixed with traditional folk music, KP Smith brings cheeky storytelling and toe tapping melodies to their songs. Imagine someone who grew up listening to equal parts Paul Simon and Blink-182. Add a dash of prairie soul, with a large helping of queer longing, and you get: KP Smith.
